Description

Tie-dyeing is a traditional Chinese folk dyeing process. It has a history of thousands of years since the Qin and Han Dynasties, and has spread to India, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia and other countries. But nowadays it has been replaced by digital printing.
The process of tie-dye typically consists of folding, twisting, pleating, or crumpling fabric or a garment, before binding with string or rubber bands, followed by the application of dye or dyes. After removing the tie thread, colorful patterns can appear on the fabric. And show the rich vitality of fabric characteristics, become a unique work of art.
Amoy also known as South China Tiger. We have chosen Amoy as the first style of What is Art? Collection, it is named after the gray-black tiger pattern. It uses the unique species of South China Tiger in China to represent the origin of the traditional tie-dyeing process. This species was completely extinct in 1994, the introduction of this style in the Year of the Tiger also appeals to the importance of wildlife conservation.
